What is it?
ViiBus is an accessible and intelligent communication system that provides autonomy to blindness and low vision people in bus lines identification and boarding step, promoting the accessibility and commitment of companies to its users. The system also helps in the accessible, human and intelligent cities transformation, because when connected to the internet it can integrate other solutions, such as light, parking, temperature sensors, etc.
Why ViiBus?
From english “Visually Impaired Intelligent BUs Stop”, in portuguese “Ponto de Ônibus Inteligente para Pessoas com Deficiência Visual”.
How it works?
Evolution
The idea
10 de February de 2009
Douglas Toledo, CEO and founder of ViiSolutions, studied at PUC-Campinas and daily take a bus to the university. Every week, at the same hour and bus stop, he watched from inside the bus a visually impaired lady boarding. Thinking of the difficulties she faced in bus identifying and its approaching, he realized how there was an unmet need for an accessible system that would help the visually impaired who needs to take a bus.
Interview
30 de August de 2013
The idea went forward as his Electrical Engineering therm paper. For initial validation, Toledo spoke with Leonardo Campos and Adair Silva, both visually impaired and students of the Interdisciplinary Center for Attention to People with Disabilities (CIAPD) of PUC-Campinas, to confirm their needs when use the public transportation.
First prototype
4 de November de 2013
From there came the first prototype of an accessible and intelligent system that integrates bus stop, passenger and vehicle later demonstrated for Mr. Adair and Mr. Leonardo (photo).
