Theme: accessible transport term paper

Efforts and dedication abound the students of Pontifical Catholic University on Electrical Engineering (Telecommunication emphasis) course that after five years present their Term Papers. They need to “break the head” to choose an innovative and unique theme with business applicability. The quality of their papers are recognized by teachers and also by market professionals.

The best 3 term papers written in 2013 were presented and awarded this month. The juror’s panel was composed by Prof. Dr. of PUC -Campinas, Amilton Costa Lamas, the Electrical Engineer (Telecommunication emphasis) graduated at PUC -Campinas in 2011, Huederson Botura and the Electrical Engineer graduated at University of Pará (UFPA), PhD in the same area at University of Campinas (Unicamp), Marta Rettelbusch de Bastos. In addition to evaluating the requirements referring the theme, the jurors considers the complexity, costs, interactivity, navigability, technology and project usability. The posture of the students during the presentation and the clarity in explanation are also considered by juror’s panel.

The winner was Douglas Wilian de Toledo. He presented an accessible transport term paper of an intelligent bus stop for visually impaired that uses an Arduino/Radiuino platform. The second was Ricardo Bernardo Affonto that presented the implementation of unmanned aerial vehicles and its additional services. And the third was Victor Angel Bocchi Castelaro, with a project of a a security system to supervise forgetting children on vehicles.

The award ceremony was held on 23 April at the Campus I.
